The final edited glass lamp. I waited until the sun was precisely aligned behind the backdrop for even outlines of highlights.
Definitely analog, a real beauty from a bygone era. This glass oil lantern, or hurricane lamp, has a glass piece that holds oil fuel for light. A wick inside the glass is lit and the top piece of glass covers the flame. Its base is heavy but balanced and stable.
The lamp and lighting set-up with the dark backdrop shows how this is lit with natural light. The set-up is in front of a South facing window. It is bright sun outside. I wanted an even outline of highlights around the piece so I waited until the sun was aligned behind the backdrop.
This was before retouching and before the sun was aligned with the backdrop. Notice the highlights outlining the contour are thicker on one side due to the position of the sun relative to the backdrop.
